Why what? Well, Fox News’ Martha MacCallum noticed something about Donald Trump’s appearance on the “TODAY” show this morning:

Oh dear. That’s gotta hurt, huh, other presidential candidates?

Their own faults?

Double ouch.

Some aren’t too pleased:

Or is it clever?

What say you, Twitchy readers?

By now you’ve heard about the ongoing spat between Republican front-runner Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, but in case you missed it, here’s a quick summary.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Trump called Cruz “a little bit of a maniac” — referring to Cruz’s actions fighting the establishment as a senator –and said he doesn’t have the “right temperament” to be president:

Cruz answered back with this tweet and video from the 1983 movie “Flashdance”:

And then this one from this morning:

Ha!

Now there is some method to Cruz’s continued trolling of Trump over the “maniac” line. Both Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin have denounced Trump over it, for example:

More from Mark Levin:

Levin cited three reckless comments made by Donald Trump.

First, Mr. Trump joined in with a leftist on CNN to dump on Justice Scalia, whos comments during oral argument have been unfairly accused of being racist. Conservatives know better.

Second, Levin said that Mr. Trumps insinuation that Ted Cruz is bought and paid for by Texas oil companies because he opposes ethanol was stupid. Ethanol subsidies are a typical, big-government, Stalinist program and conservatives know better than to criticize a candidate who opposes government waste. Announcing your support for ethanol subsidies because youre campaigning in Iowa is pandering.

Thirdly, Levin declared that Mr. Trump sided with the Republican establishment when he called Sen. Cruz a maniac for refusing to go along with the Washington establishment in the Senate. Isnt Mr. Trump himself running an anti-establishment campaign? Why would he adopt Establishment talking points to attack another conservative?

We’re sure to hear more about it attonight’s debate, hosted by CNN and our parent company, Salem, that starts at6:00 p.m. ET for the undercard and 8:30 p.m. ET for the main event.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has some good news today as polling in Maryland has him a strong second at 31% to Donald Trump’s 41%:

Too bad it’s meaningless as Kasich hasn’t even bothered to field a full slate of delegates in his “best remaining state”:

It’s even worse for Kasich in Pennsylvania:

Game over.

As we told you earlier, GOP front-runner Donald Trump backed out of his planned appearance at theAmerican Conservative Unions CPAC conference in Maryland on Saturday…

…and now we might know why. ACU chairman Matt Schlapp insinuated on Fox Business Network that it was because Trump would have to answer questions from the conservatives in attendance:

Update 7:08. Politco adds more to story:

Update 9:43. More from Megyn Kelly:

And here’s Trump’s booth … sad!

Exit question: Does Newt still support Trump skipping the event if this is really the reason?

On Tuesday, Judge Sheri Pym of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles ordered Apple to help the FBI hack into an iPhone used bySyed Rizwan Farook, one of the San Bernardino terrorists. Apple, however, refused and is fighting the order:

It’s actually not as black and white as it sounds. Apple is accusing the FBI of overreach and says what they’ve been asked to do will create a “backdoor” of sorts that can be used to hack any iPhone in the future. Tim Cook posted this open letter on Apple’s website:

Donald Trump was asked about the case on “Fox & Friends” this morning and slammed Cook for his stance:

FWIW, Justice Scalia’s voice on this subject will be missed:

Apple has 5 days to respond to the order:
