New information from the Sony hacks keeps rolling in, and this new tidbit is truly bizarre.
Apparently, the studio is planning to combine the “Jump Street” franchise and the “Men in Black” franchise.
Leaked emails from Sony’s head of motion pictures, Amy Pascal, reveal the crossover film will star Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, but Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will, in all likelihood, not appear in the film.
In an email to Pascal, Jonah Hill wrote,
Jump street merging with mib i think that’s clean and rad and powerful.
The film will be produced and possibly written and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the guys behind the first two “Jump Street” movies.
So, while it seems like a pretty unwieldy concept, this one is at least in good hands.
In an email from the president of production for Sony’s Columbia Pictures, Hannah Minghella, she said,
We don’t have a script yet so we’ll be greenlighting the movie off the concept and the talent involved.
Who knows how this movie will turn out, but it’s certainly an interesting concept.
I just hope this doesn’t become the new trend.
It’s cool when “The Flintstones” meet “The Jetsons,” but I don’t really care to see the guys from “Horrible Bosses” walking around “Jurassic World.”
