She saw her 1-year-old little boy and 3-year-old daughter sitting in the front seat …

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3).

We’ve all heard the verse, but it’s so much different when you see it come to life before your very eyes. Last week, Kelsie Perkins took a photo of her 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter sitting on their daddy’s lap in his cop car praying their little hearts out.

With hands clasped tightly, eyes closed and heads bowed in childlike reverence, they pray for their dad Jordan Perkins every day before he leaves for his shift at theCleveland County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina.

Her husband has always been a champion of prayer in the home, and he encourages his little ones to pray as part of everyday life and “not just whenever something goes wrong.”

“The kids don’t know the dangers of his job, but it’s something we do, for God to help him with the decisions that he has to make, to have compassion on the people that he’s going to help, whenever he goes into work,” Kelsie told TODAY.

Even though these tots don’t have a clue about the pending dangers their father is about face when he leaves for work, they know their Heavenly Father has his backand that really is the most beautiful thing.

If only we all could take such a stance in our prayer life. As adults, we let fear, rationale and the realities of a cruel world seep into our brains and warp the perspective we have of a God whose love and power far transcends each of our worries.

After Kelsie posted the photo on Facebook, Jordan’s employer got ahold of it and decided to share it as well. The priceless picture has since been shared thousands of times, and the mommy of two is pretty shocked by the viral response it’s receiving.

“I honestly don’t understand. For us, that’s something very normal, and I know we can’t be the only family that prays with an officer before he goes into work,” she told TODAY. “It’s really amazing how God has used the photo to touch so many people and inspired them to pray not only for our family but for other officers that they don’t know.”
